⚊ WHAT HAPPENED ? ⚊

From third to second to first: After finishing third in Maribor (SLO) then second in Fort William (GBR) Australian Tracey Hannah was the fastest woman on the downhill track in Leogang (AUT) by more than two seconds. She takes over the UCI World Cup leader’s plate from Great Britain’s Rachel Atherton, who crashed on the Leogang descent. Not to be overlooked is the winner of the Junior Women competition Valentina (Vali) Höll. Not only did the young Austrian claim a dominant victory at home, her time would have placed her third in the Women Elite competition. Frenchman Loïc Bruni claimed his second UCI World Cup win of the season in Leogang by a very narrow margin over South Africa’s Greg Minnaar.

⚊ WHAT HAPPENED ? ⚊

The crowd favourite at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup racing in Saint Quentin-en Yvelines had to be Manon Valentino who, with her home win in round six on Sunday, prevented the Dutch riders from making a clean sweep of victories in France. Seventh in the Elite Women’s fifth round on Saturday, the French athlete pulled out all the stops in the sixth round, forcing UCI World Champion Laura Smulders (NED) and Alise Willoughby (USA) - first and second respectively the previous day - to make do with second and third. The Netherlands’ Niek Kimmann made it look easy, taking the Men Elite wins on both days. France’s Joris Daudet was also on the podium at both rounds, finishing third in round five and second in round six.
