– What happened? –
The UCI Trials World Cup stayed in France for Round 4, the second of two rounds in France. Held in Albertville, on August 26-27, this was the fourth of five rounds in the 19th edition of the UCI World Cup.
In the Men's 20" competition, Abel Mustieles of Spain came back from his first UCI World Cup defeat in over a year at the previous round to notch up his third win of the season. Fellow Spaniard and constant rival, Benito Ros, finished second with Lucien Leisier of Switzerland in third. Mustieles now has an almost insurmountable lead going into the final round with 740 points to Ros' 575, with another Spaniard, Ion Areitio, third at 475 points.
The Men's 26" category saw the first repeat winner of the season, when Round 1 winner Gilles Coustellier of France was victorious with an impressive and almost perfect final heat that saw him lose only a single point. Coustellier's countryman Vincent Hermance finished second and Jack Carthy, the Men's 26" defending UCI World Cup Champion and winner of Round 2, was third. Coustellier continues to lead the overall standings with 700 points, followed by Hermance at 620 and Nicolas Vallée of France at 575 points.
In the Women's competition, it was UCI World Champion and defending UCI World Cup Champion Nina Reichenbach of Germany on the top step of the podium for her third win of the season, followed by Round 3 winner Manon Basseville of France and Debi Studer of Switzerland. Reichenbach continues to lead the standings with 760 points, followed by Basseville at 680 and Studer at 500.

– Focus on Ion Areitio –
Ion Areitio is one of the many talented Spanish riders in the Men's 20" category. Hailing from the town of Hondarribia, in the Basque Country, the 24-year-old won the bronze medal at last year's UCI World Championships, as well as bronze and silver medals at the European Championships in recent years. He is currently ranked fifth in the UCI World Rankings. In 2010, he won the Juniors world title in both the 20” and 26” classes.
