An airport hangar is an unusual venue for a cycling competition, but Hangar 5 at Berlin’s Tempelhof won the hearts of everyone present at the German stopover of the 2018 UCI Trials World Cup.
The German capital hosted the fourth and final round of the international series at the former airport Tempelhof, which has been closed since 2008. It has been voted best event of the World Cup season.
The top five athletes in each category of the 2018 UCI Trials World Cup (Men Elite 26”, Men Elite 20”, Women Elite), specialist photographers and the UCI participated in the vote.
The choice of venue, excellent organisation, accuracy of the sections, and atmosphere created by an incredibly enthusiastic public all contributed to the Berlin event’s exceptional popularity.
The 2018 UCI Trials World Cup spanned four months (July to October) and stopped over in Vöcklabruck (Austria), Val di Sole – Trentino (Italy), Antwerp (Belgium) and Berlin.
