The second round of the 2015 UCI Cycle-ball World Cup came down to an inter-club battle between two teams from the Austrian club, RC Höchst.
World Champions Patrick Schnetzer and Markus Bröll (Höchst 1) and winners of the first 2015 UCI World Cup round Simon König and Florian Fischer (Höchst 2) both sailed through the qualifications in Denkendorf, Germany, without losing one point.
The duo of Schnetzer / Bröll won the Final 7:3.
In the semi finals both Austrian teams beat teams from Germany. Höchst 1 dominated 2010 World Champions RV Gärtringen (Uwe Berner / Matthias König) 4:1, while Höchst 2 had a closer confrontation against Bundesliga RV Obernfeld (André and Manuel Kopp): they won a decisive penalty shooting 5:3 after drawing 2:2 in regular time.
In the play-off for third place, RV Gärtringen beat RV Obernfeld 6:5.
The young team from the organising club Denkendorf put in a very good performance: 19-year olds Valentin Notheis and Felix Weinert, replacing the club’s injured leading team Luik/Henn, created a small sensation by beating the Swiss team RC Winterthur (Waldispühl/Jiricek). The second Swiss team, from RMV Pfungen, were also unable to resist the young Germans, who won the penalty decision 5:4.
