Athletes' Commission - Para-cycling

With the composition of all the UCI Commissions being renewed in 2017, the Athletes’ Commission is also electing new members. This procedure began at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Bieles (Luxembourg) with the election of two cyclo-cross representatives.   As the 2017 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Los Angeles are imminent, we are now calling for candidates (one male and one female) for the two para-cycling representatives on the Commission. The role of these representatives will be to present propositions concerning a large number of para-cycling-related topics to the UCI Management Committee, and to act as ambassadors for the discipline when dealing with different UCI committees and bodies.   Members of the Commission are elected for four years. The mandate will run from the 2017 UCI Congress until the Congress in 2021.   To be eligible, candidates must be included in the final rankings of the current season, or the 2014, 2015 or 2016 seasons. They must put themselves forward for the role before August 21st 2017.   The elections will be held at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships which take place in Pietermaritzburg (South Africa) from August 31st to September 3rd.  A system will be organised to enable para-cyclists who take part at the 2017 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships to vote even if they do not attend the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships. Details will be communicated in the days before the competition.   Although the elections won’t take place for several months, we encourage potential candidates to already inform us of their interest by sending an e-mail to: [email protected].   The final list of candidates and will be published on the UCI website the week before the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships. The results will also be communicated via the UCI website.
