Brian Cookson awarded Honorary Degree from EU Business School

UCI President Brian Cookson has been awarded a Degree of Doctor of Civil Laws, Honoris Causa from the EU Business School.

Mr Cookson was a guest speaker at the Commencement Ceremony of EU Business School’s Munich Campus on Saturday June 27, and received his degree from the school’s President, Dr. Dirk Craen.

“We wish to salute Mr Cookson’s leadership,” said Dr. Craen. “Ever since he took the position, his actions have allowed the implementation of basic values such as authenticity, transparency and reputation. These are the values held dear by EU and we are proud to witness such commitment from the UCI.”

In his address to the graduating business students, Brian Cookson encouraged them to adhere to the values mentioned by Dr. Craen: “Since my election as President of the Union Cycliste Internationale in September 2013, I have done all I can to ensure these values are respected in the world of sport.

“Clients of any business need to know that what they see is what they get, that the end product is genuine, and that it adapts to the changing market. The same goes for cycling.”

Mr Cookson added that he was honoured to receive recognition from EU Business School, which has campuses worldwide and a high international reputation.
