If you followed the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano you will certainly have noticed Jenny Rissveds: the 21-year-old Swedish rider won every single round of the U23 Women category! Her consistency and strength were simply impressive. 2016 is going to be a big year and we look forward to seeing her back in action at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup and hopefully at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Let’s get to know her…
I AM Name: Jenny Rissveds Age: 21 Nickname: Probably the most boring answer, but I have no nickname… Discipline: Cross Country Olympic (XCO) Main success: World Cup Champion U23, 2015.
I LIKE An actor/actress: Noomi Rapace A TV series: I’ve never watched a TV-series until the beginning of this season. I started watching “Gossip Girl”, but actually I don’t even like it so to be honest it feels just like a waste of time. A movie: Looper A song: I can’t choose just one, they are too many to list. An artist: Same here, I listen to all kind of music like house, hip hop, pop, rap, you name it. A book: “I kroppen min” by Kristian Gidlund. It’s a Swedish book about a Swedish musician who got sick with cancer twice and passed away. It’s that kind of book that really makes you think about your life and appreciate what you have. A colour: Pink and blue A meal: Breakfast A country: Switzerland or Italy. A race: I won my first Cross-country Eliminator World Cup race in La Bresse 2012 at the age of 17. That race was a pretty special one for me. Another cyclist: My team manager Thomas Frischknecht as he is such a good guy and it’s always interesting to listen to his stories about his life and cycling experiences. Another sport: I think motocross looks so cool and I would love to learn how to handle a moto. I guess that won’t happen though, haha. A sport person: Motocross rider Rasmus Jørgensen from Denmark. Check out “Don’t you worry – The Rasmus Jørgensen story” and you’ll understand why. 3 things that you would take with you on a desert island: My brother, sunscreen and a fishing rod so we can go and catch some fish. A person who inspires you: People who get out of their comfort zone and believe in their dreams inspire me. A motto: If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. A dream: To stay healthy and be able to do what I want to do in life.
Something people don’t know about you? I’m good at playing the flute. I started to take flute classes at the age of 9 until I turned 14. I played solo and in an orchestra. These days I just play when I have time for it and when I’m in a good flute mode, but I would say I’m still pretty good at it :).
