The 18th edition of the UCI Trials World Cup moved to Les Ménuires for round 3, the first of two rounds of the five-event series to be held in France.
In the Men's 20" competition, Abel Mustieles of Spain was beaten after five consecutive UCI World Cup wins, stretching back to the middle of 2016. Mustieles' countryman and long-standing rival Benito Ros claimed victory at the weekend. He finished one point ahead of another Spaniard, Alejandro Montalvo, who at just 17 years old already makes his mark on Elite competition just one year after winning his category at the UCI Trials World Youth Games. Mustieles took third place and continues to lead the overall standings with 540 points. Ros has jumped to second from sixth with 415 points.
The Men's 26" category saw a third winner for the season's third race, with Nicolas Vallée of France claiming his first-ever UCI World Cup victory. Round 1 winner Gilles Coustellier of France finished second, and fellow Frenchman Vincent Hermance was third. Coustellier, who has led the standings all season, remains in first place with 500 points, followed by Hermance at 460 points. Vallée moves up one spot to third, with 450 points.
In the Women's competition, Manon Basseville of France also took her first victory, finishing in front of UCI World Champion Nina Reichenbach of Germany, who won the first two rounds. Janine Jungfels of Australia was third for the second consecutive time. Reichenbach continues to lead the standings with 560 points, followed by Basseville at 520 and Debi Studer of Switzerland at 360.

Nicolas Vallée is one of the up-and-coming riders in the Men's 26" category. The young French rider from Valpuisseaux, a small town south of Paris, has had a strong season in 2017, winning the French national title and his first UCI World Cup at Round 3 in Les Ménuires. In 2015 and 2016, he was the Junior Men's 26" UCI World Champion and European Champion.
