UCI BMX World Championships: Elite wins for Bethany Shriever and Arthur Pilard

Third Elite UCI world title for Shriever

At the 2025 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, Great Britain’s Bethany Shriever won the Women Elite title and France’s Arthur Pilard claimed victory in the Men Elite competition.

Earlier the same day Michelle Wissing (NED) and Alexis Pieczanowsky (FRA) were victorious in the Under 23 categories, while New Zealand’s Lily Greenough and young Frenchman Evan Oliviera were the fastest Juniors.

Women Elite: a third for Bethany Shriever

Great Britain’s Bethany Shriever won the Women Elite final by more than 1 second, to claim her third Elite UCI World Champion title, following her successes in 2021 (Arnheim, the Netherlands) and 2023 (Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom). She was also crowned Olympic Champion at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Reigning Olympic Champion Saya Sakakibara (AUS) finished second, while Judy Baauw (NED), starting from lane 8, completed the podium.

Men Elite: Arthur Pilard claims his first rainbow jersey

Arthur Pilard won his first title of UCI World Champion, following a silver medal in Glasgow in 2023. The Frenchman took the holeshot in the final then led the race from start to finish.

Izaac Kennedy (AUS) finished in second place for his first medal at this level, while Eddy Clerté ensured France had two athletes on the Men Elite podium.

Defending UCI World Champion and reigning Olympic Champion Joris Daudet (FRA) finished fourth.

Women Under 23: Michelle Wissing continues to dominate

Dutch athlete Michelle Wissing claimed the Women Under 23 title after dominating the category all season.

The Netherlands also took the silver medal thanks to Renske van Santvoort, while third place went to the French rider Marie Favrel.

Men Under 23: Alexis Pieczanowsky wins for France

France’s Alexis Pieczanowsky won the Men Under 23 title, beating Australia’s Joshua Jolly into second place in the final. In rainy conditions the pre-race favourite Jason Noordam (NED) finished third.

Women Junior: Lily Greenough takes it for New Zealand

New Zealand’s Lily Greenough won the Women Junior title, followed by Elsa Rendall Todd of Great Britain in second place and Alexis Alden (USA) in third.

Men Junior: A French one-two

Evan Oliviera (first) and Clement Rocherieux took the two top spots for France. The bronze medal went to Canada’s Lucas Zhou.

Culmination of a week of racing

The Elite, Under 23 and Junior racing on 2 and 3 August capped off a week of competition in Copenhagen which saw more than 3000 athletes from all over the world compete in different Challenge and Masters categories, all vying for the rainbow jersey of UCI World Champion.
