The 31st edition of the Tour du Faso in Burkina Faso took place from October 26th to November 4th. Part of the UCI Africa Tour since 2005, the UCI 2.2 race covers 1171 kilometres in ten stages, covering all regions of the country, starting and finishing in the capital of Ouagadougou. The 2018 edition was won by Burkina Faso native Mathias Sorgho, who had previously finished third on two occasions. Dutch rider Florian Smits (Global Cycling Team) won the opening stage to take the leader's jersey, but lost it on the next stage, when Sorgho took the overall lead. Sorgho lost the lead on the following stage to teammate Saidou Bamogo, only to regain it when he won Stage 4. The leader held off all challengers for the remainder of the race, to win the title by 13 seconds over Sjors Handgraff (Global Cycling Team) of the Netherlands.
