UCI Continental Circuits: Mraouni takes the lead in Africa, Guama de La Cruz hits top spot in America but no change in Europe and Asia

Edward Theuns (UCI Europe Tour) and Hossein Askari (UCI Asia Tour) retain their leads in their rankings but it is all change for the UCI Africa Tour, with Salaheddine Mraouni taking over at the top, while Bayron Guama de La Cruz is the new leader of the UCI America Tour.

Moroccan rider Salaheddine Mraouni has taken pole position in the UCI Africa Tour after his success in the Challenge du Prince - Trophée Princier in Dakhla, southern Morocco. With 241 points, the 23-year-old rider now heads his compatriot Essaid Abelouache (180 points) who finished second in the latest Challenge du Prince race. Previous UCI Africa Tour leader Mekseb Debesay from Eritrea lies third on 175.67 points.

In the team ranking, Skydive Dubai pro Cycling Team-Al Ahli Club leads on 507 points, followed by MTN-Qhubeka (406.02) and Groupement Sportif des Pétroliers Algérie (405).

The nation ranking is still dominated by Algerian riders (1,063 points). Morocco (888) and South Africa (822.48) complete the podium.

There has been a change in the leadership of the UCI America Tour ranking. Ecuador's Bayron Guama de La Cruz charged to a solo win in the Pan-American Championships in León (Mexico) and now heads the ranking on 178 points.

Argentina's Daniel Diaz dropped back to second place (158 points). Brazilian rider William Chiarello also lost a place and now lies third on 135 points, despite finishing fourth in the Pan-American Championships.

There is no change in the team ranking: Funvic - São José dos Campos leads with 290 points ahead of Team Ecuador (210), benefiting from Guama de La Cruz's success, and EPM-UNE-Area Metropolitana (183).

In the nation ranking, Columbia leads with 635 points ahead of Argentina (570) and Venezuela (412).

No events were held in the UCI Oceania Tour in May.

Veteran rider Hossein Askari (40) kept his place at the top of the UCI Asia Tour ranking thanks to third place in the Tour of Japan. On 251 points, Askari retains a narrow lead over his compatriot Mirsamad Pourseyedigolakhour, whose victory in the Tour of Japan lifted him to second place in the UCI Asia Tour on 247 points. Algeria's Youcef Reguigui, on 163 points, dropped back from second to third.

In the team ranking, Pishgaman Giant Team, on 488 points, has a comfortable margin over Tabriz Petrochemical Team (390 points) and MTN-Qhubeka (233).

Iran dominates the nation ranking on 861 points, ahead of Japan (333) and Malaysia (178).

Belgium's Edward Theuns retains a solid lead in the UCI Europe Tour. The Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise rider consolidated his top spot by taking a stage of the Four Days of Dunkirk. His total of 433 points gives him a comfortable lead over Bryan Coquard (Team Europcar). The French rider, who was a lowly 78th on the previous month's ranking, completed a superb month with a stage win and second place on the general classification of the Four Days of Dunkirk, as well as fourth overall in the Tour de Picardie. Slovenia's Marko Kump rose from fifth to third in the UCI Europe Tour ranking after a stage win in the Tour of Azerbaijan.

In the team ranking, Bretagne-Séché Environnement (876 points) maintains a healthy lead over CCC Sprandi Polkowice (712) and Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise (683).

In the nation ranking, France (1,574.5 points) has the narrowest of leads over Belgium (1,573.25) while Italy occupies the third step of the provisional podium on 1,256 points.
