Never before have so many rainbow jerseys been awarded at the same event. During the 11 days of the UCI Cycling World Championships, some 220 of the distinctive Santini-designed jerseys will be presented to the 2023 UCI World Champions in the different disciplines.
Founded in 1965, the Bergamo-based Italian company Santini Maglificio Sportivo has been designing and producing the famous rainbow jersey for more than 30 years. This year, to celebrate the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, the UCI Official Partner has also produced kit for fans and public.
Santini collaborated with three Scottish designers to produce three kits that tell the story of the beauty of Glasgow and Scotland.
This unique collection includes two kits for road cyclists:
the Cloudscape kit created by the O Street designers, paying tribute to the wonderful Scottish landscapes, with its green forests and mountain profiles reflected in the lakes
the City Grid kit, created by the designer Patrick Hughes, which captures various shades of blue and green and recalls some of the features of the Glasgow city architecture.
The third kit, named Rocky, is specifically designed for mountain bike. This outfit, created by Fourtwentyseven and Stuco designers, reflects the lush colours of the Glentress Forest, renowned for its beautiful trails.
These kits can be ordered online and will also be for sale during the UCI Cycling World Championships at Santini tents and trucks in:
Glasgow at:
the fan zone in Georges Square
Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome
Glasgow University area
Fort William (mountain bike downhill)
Perth (Gran Fondo road races)
Glentress (mountain bike cross-country Olympic, Short Track and Marathon)
Monica Santini, CEO of Santini Cycling Wear said: “Santini’s partnership with the UCI and its World Championships is a longstanding one and we are thrilled to be part of this event that will be starting a new chapter for cycling. As well as dressing the 2023 UCI World Champions, it was important for us to provide kits for fans to mark this historic event. We cannot wait to get to Scotland and share in the excitement with the athletes and fans.”
