UCI Gravel World Series: expanded calendar comprises 33 events

First event of 2025 this weekend

The rapidly expanding world of gravel racing continues to grow in 2025 with the UCI Gravel World Series comprising 33 events worldwide.

From Italy to France, passing by Australia and Namibia, thousands of riders will take to roads and off-road tracks in the search of thrills, fun, stiff competition and, for the best of them, a chance to battle for the rainbow jerseys at the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships.

Hard on the heels of the 2024 Bolero UCI Gravel World Championships in Belgium’s Flemish Forest of Brabant at the beginning of October, the UEC European Gravel Championships in Asiago, Italy, kicked off the current UCI Gravel World Series. Towards the end of October, it was already time for the Gravelista in Australia, and now the races are coming thick and fast, with 31 more events in 2025.

The proven concept of the UCI Gravel World Series stays the same: UCI-sanctioned qualifier events are held around the world. Each race qualifies the top 25% in each age group for the UCI Gravel World Championships at the end of the season. In the UCI Gravel World Series, amateur riders can compete as well as professionals, representing the inclusive spirit of gravel.

Stars from all horizons

Some 800 participants will thus roam Spain’s mountainous region of Llucena this Saturday, with the introduction of the Castellon Gravel Race in the UCI Gravel World Series. Local figures Alejandro Valverde (UCI Road World Champion in 2018) and Sofia Rodriguez (winner of the 2024 Castellon Gravel Race and recent Spanish National Cyclo-cross Champion) headline a start-list also featuring German Gravel Champion Carolin Schiff.

The German topped last year’s women standings in the UCI Gravel World Series with dominant performances throughout the year, including three wins in the Wish One Millau Grands Causses (France), the Hegau Gravel Festival (Germany) and the Gravel Adventure (Poland), all events that are back on the calendar for 2025.

On the other hand, Gravel Brasil, early March, is a newcomer and the first race of the series in South America. Its introduction to the calendar will be yet another opportunity to explore new lands, around the coastal city of Balneário Camboriú. Expect a thrilling mix of riders, with local and global talents, including Italy’s Daniel Oss, silver medallist in the inaugural edition of the UCI Gravel World Championships.

33 global events: Belgium, Canada, Namibia…

Brazil is far from being the only new rendezvous of the UCI Gravel World Series, as the number of rounds keeps on increasing, 11 rounds in 2022, 16 in 2023, 26 in 2024, and now 33 in 2025. It also means the series visits 21 countries this year, compared to 18 in 2024.

Some venues will be familiar, especially for the Turnhout Gravel (Belgium), designed in the same area where close to 2,000 riders battled for the rainbow jersey in 2024.

Other races will take the UCI Gravel World Series to uncharted territories, such as the Canadian trails of Paris to Ancaster and Namibia’s Khomas100. The 114 Gravel Race will also bring another novelty as it connects two countries, starting from Portugal and finishing in Spain.

Well established events such as Italy’s Monsterrando complete a comprehensive and varied calendar for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Series.
