Vittoria celebrates UCI World Championships with new rainbow editions of mountain bike tyres

To further mark its partnership with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), bicycle tyre manufacturer Vittoria has launched a new edition of two mountain bike models featuring the UCI logo and rainbow on the tyre sidewalls.

The new rainbow edition of tyres applies to Vittoria’s mountain bike cross-country models Barzo and Mezcal. They are available for order on the Vittoria website and at Vittoria retailers.

The Italian tyre manufacturer Vittoria signed a five-year partnership with the UCI in 2021, becoming an Official Partner of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships and the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup until 2025.

Present at all rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, Vittoria provides tyres both for Elite competitors and amateur mountain bike enthusiasts. Current and former UCI World Champions have won their titles on Barzo or Mezcal tyres, and the two models are also used by the wider mountain bike community.

Sustainability and solidarity

Moving from new tyres to old, Vittoria runs a recycling programme which sees used tyres and inner tubes recycled for use in the construction of playgrounds and sports tracks. As part of this programme, the manufacturer set up collection points at all Italian rounds of the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. Since the launch of the project, an estimated 36,000kg of inner tubes and tyres have been collected in Italy alone. It is envisaged to extend this programme outside of Italy.

In line with its sustainability practices, Vittoria has opened a new carbon-neutral operations factory at its premises in Bangkok, Thailand. The Vittoria Cotton Tyres Factory features electric vulcanisation processes and solar panels on the rooftop, and uses renewable energy, paperless operations, electric automated guided vehicles and carbon credits. These practices have earned the factory the CarbonNeutral® operations certification from CarbonNeutral certifier Climate Impact Partners.

Vittoria also supports the activities of the UCI World Cycling Centre and the UCI Solidarity programme, supplying tyres for aid programmes to National Federations. This year, a total of 470 tyres have been shipped to 17 countries across four continents as part of this programme.
