24 November | Koksijde, Belgium
What happened
After two consecutive second places, Women U23 European Champion Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado claimed her first Elite UCI World Cup victory in Koksijde. The young Dutch rider demonstrated impressive sand-riding skills, then attacked in the 5th and final lap to take the win. It was once again an all-Dutch podium with Lucinda Brand in 2nd and Yara Kastelijn in 3rd followed by 20-year-old Inge Van der Heijden and Annemarie Worst, winner of rounds 3 and 4.
A third-row start and getting held up by a crash on the first corner was not enough to deter Mathieu Van der Poel from his winning ways. The Dutch rider was back in the lead group by the end of the first lap, opened up a large gap on the second lap, then never looked back, finishing 25 seconds ahead of Belgian Laurens Sweeck.
