Trek Segafredo claimed its first UCI Women’s WorldTour victory of the season in style after four days of intelligent and relentless racing in the Basque Country. Faced with a strong Mitchelton Scott squad determined to repeat Amanda Spratt’s 2018 victory, Trek Segafredo moved up the general classification as the days progressed. In the lead after her stage two win, Spratt was still in the leader’s jersey after day three but under threat… Trek Segafredo’s Tayler Wiles took the penultimate stage, while her team mate Elisa Longo Borghini moved up into third overall. Longo Borghini confirmed on the fourth and final stage, crossing the finish four seconds in front of the bunch and claiming the overall from Spratt by a mere two seconds. She also came away with the mountains and points classifications.
