What happened
Mitchelton-Scott’s Adam Yates (GBR) won a shortened UAE Tour, which was stopped after five of the seven stages due to two suspected cases of the Coronavirus among team staff members.
Yates took the leader’s jersey after his impressive stage three solo victory on the summit of Jebel Hafeet. His finishing margin of more than a minute over Slovenian Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) was the largest ever achieved on the climb since 2015. Yates held onto the red jersey for the remaining two stages. Pogačar, winner of stage five – also atop Jebel Hafeet - finished second overall and won the youth classification, while Australian Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal) took the points jersey.

What happened
World records, multiple UCI World Champions, surprises and confirmation of form…. the Berlin Velodrom was the theatre of much excitement over the last five days. What happened
Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo) took the biggest win of his career when he sprinted to victory against fellow Belgian Yves Lampaert (Deceuninck - Quick-Step) in Ninove. Fourth in the Omloop in 2018, Stuyven was unable to confirm his talent in last year’s Classics, but has now shown any doubters what he is capable of.
Part of a decisive break more than 70km from the finish, the Belgian duo, pursued by Team Sunweb’s Søren Kragh Andersen, applied pressure on the Muur van Geraardsbergen. In the finale, as Andersen paid the price of his efforts, Stuyven and Lampaert tried to shake each other off. Neither managed to make a clear break, and it came down to a two-man sprint, where Stuyven proved too quick for the Quick-Step rider.

What happened
The first round of the 2020 UCI Artistic Cycling World Cup took place in Austria for the first time, with the host country’s athletes celebrating three podiums: in the Pairs Women category, Rosa Kopf and Svenja Bachmann (ÖAMTC RV Enzian Sulz - 2nd) and Jacqueline Rist and Ida-Lena Hofherr (ARBÖ Bregenz - 3rd) shared the podium with winner Sophie-Marie Nattmann and Caroline Wurth (RSV Gutach) from Germany. Meanwhile Lorena Schneider took third place in the Women’s Single competition.
Despite several absences due to illness and injury, 47 athletes from eight countries – Austria, Spain, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Switzerland and Turkey - participated in the opening round. Athletes and spectators had the benefit of expert commentary from the speaker Adriana Mathis, 2015 UCI World Champion in the Women Single category.
