The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that the 2026 UCI Mobility and Bike City Forum will take place in Athens (Greece) on 10-11 May 2026.
First organised in 2018, the UCI Mobility & Bike City Forum is the UCI’s annual conference dedicated to the promotion of sustainable and active mobility, and cycling’s contribution to the global sustainable development agenda. It brings together the transport and cycling communities, alongside representatives from the UCI Bike City and Region network, National Federations, Continental Confederations, event organisers, city representatives, cycling advocates and industry experts.
The 2026 edition will be hosted in collaboration with Kyvernitis Travel Group and will, as in 2024 and 2025, provide delegates with the added opportunity to witness the wider societal impact of Elite cycling competitions. The two-day Forum will start with workshops, bike tours and the chance to attend the finish of the Tour of Hellas in Athens city centre on Sunday 10 May and will continue with the main conference day on Monday 11 May. The winners of the 2026 UCI Cycling for All & Sustainability Awards will also be revealed during the gala dinner on the second day.
UCI President David Lappartient declared: “Athens is a fitting host for the next UCI Mobility & Bike City Forum, blending a forward-looking approach to sustainable mobility with a deep-rooted connection to sport and the Olympic movement. With scenic bike routes, a growing cycling culture, and Elite events like the Tour of Hellas, Athens showcases how active mobility can thrive in a modern metropolis. At the same time, its legacy as the birthplace of the Olympic Games and host of the first modern Olympics in 1896 positions Athens as a symbol of sporting excellence and global unity. Athens embodies the values of sport, health, and community, making it an inspiring venue for international dialogue on mobility and cycling.”
Athens Mayor Haris Doukas stated: “Hosting the 2026 UCI Mobility & Bike City Forum in Athens is both a great honor and a unique opportunity to highlight our commitment to creating a more humane, sustainable, and accessible city for everyone. Athens has ambitious goals: to establish a network of bicycle routes, develop safe infrastructure and secure bike parking stations, and seamlessly integrate micromobility into our neighborhoods. Our vision is clear: we want cycling to become an everyday habit. To achieve this, we are investing in initiatives that promote sustainable mobility and enhance residents’ quality of life, guided by our Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the “15-Minute City” strategy. The 2026 UCI Mobility & Bike City Forum will allow us to showcase this vision on the global stage, exchange knowledge, and gain valuable insights to firmly establish cycling as a cornerstone of green, everyday transportation in Athens. We are very happy about the constructive meeting that we had today in Athens with the representatives of the UCI. It is very important to listen to the voice of the experts.”
Kyvernitis Group Managing Partner George Kyvernitis stated: “We are truly proud to welcome the 2026 UCI Mobility and Bike City Forum, together with the UCI and the Municipality of Athens. This collaboration reflects our shared values and commitment to a more sustainable future. We look forward to inspiring the global community to join us in this important dialogue.”
