Granting of six UCI Women’s WorldTour licences and registration of UCI Women’s WorldTeams, UCI WorldTeams and UCI ProTeams for the 2022 season

Following the registration procedure for UCI professional teams, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) today makes public the names of teams that are either registered or have invitations for the 2022 season. Furthermore, the UCI is pleased to announce the award of six new UCI Women’s WorldTour licences.

UCI Women’s WorldTeams (1st division)

In accordance with the UCI Regulations (art. 2.13.026 ff), and after a complete review of the files received regarding all the criteria for attribution (ethical, financial, administrative and organisational), the Licence Commission has decided to award a UCI Women's WorldTour licence for the period 2022 - 2023, subject to compliance with the provisions for annual registration during the period, to the following teams :

  • EF EDUCATION - TIBCO - SVB (TIB – USA)

  • HUMAN POWERED HEALTH (HPW – USA)

  • ROLAND COGEAS EDELWEISS SQUAD (CGS – SUI)

  • TEAM JUMBO VISMA (JVW – NED)

  • UNO-X PRO CYCLING TEAM (UXT – NOR)

  • UAE TEAM (UAD – UAE).

According to article 2.13.056 of the UCI Regulations, these teams will be registered as UCI Women’s WorldTeams for the 2022 season.

Moreover, the UCI has decided (art 2.13.095) to register the UCI Women’s WorldTeams listed below – already holders of a UCI Women’s WorldTour licence and whose files are judged by the UCI to be in in order – for the 2022 season:

  • CANYON//SRAM RACING (CSR – GER)

  • FDJ NOUVELLE-AQUITAINE FUTUROSCOPE (FDJ – FRA)

  • LIV RACING XSTRA (LIV – NED)

  • MOVISTAR TEAM WOMEN (MOV – ESP)

  • TEAM BIKEEXCHANGE – JAYCO (BEX – AUS)

  • TEAM SD WORX (SDW – NED)

  • TREK – SEGAFREDO (TFS – USA).

Finally, after hearing teams that had not been able to be registered directly by the UCI, the Licence Commission has decided to register the following UCI Women’s WorldTeam – already holder of a UCI Women’s WorldTour licence – for the upcoming season:

  • TEAM DSM (DSM – NED).

The UCI is delighted by the arrival of six new UCI Women’s WorldTeams. This brings the number of teams holding a UCI Women’s WorldTour licence to 14, which means that one new licence could still be awarded during the registration procedure for the 2023 season.

UCI WorldTeams (1st division)

In accordance with the UCI Regulations and following a full review of the documentation received regarding different criteria for attribution (ethical, financial, administrative and organisational), the UCI has decided (art. 2.15.070) to register the following UCI WorldTeams for the 2022 season:

  • AG2R CITROEN TEAM (ACT – FRA)

  • ASTANA QAZAQSTAN TEAM (AST – KAZ)

  • BORA – HANSGROHE (BOH – GER)

  • COFIDIS (COF – FRA)

  • EF EDUCATION – NIPPO (EFN – USA)

  • GROUPAMA – FDJ (GFC – FRA)

  • INEOS GRENADIERS (IGD – GBR)

  • INTERMARCHÉ – WANTY – GOBERT MATÉRIAUX (IWG – BEL)

  • ISRAEL START-UP NATION (ISN – ISR)

  • JUMBO-VISMA (TJV – NED)

  • LOTTO SOUDAL (LTS – BEL)

  • MOVISTAR TEAM (MOV – ESP)

  • QUICK-STEP ALPHA VINYL TEAM (DQT – BEL)

  • TEAM BIKEEXCHANGE – JAYCO (BEX – AUS)

  • TEAM DSM (DSM – NED)

  • TREK – SEGAFREDO (TFS – USA)

  • UAE TEAM EMIRATES (UAD – UAE).

Moreover, after hearing teams that had not been able to be registered directly by the UCI, the Licence Commission has decided (art. 2.15.071):

  • to register UCI WorldTeam BAHRAIN VICTORIOUS (TBV – BRN);

  • to refuse the registration of TEAM QHUBEKA NEXTHASH (TQA – RSA).

UCI ProTeams (2nd division)

In accordance with the UCI Regulations and following a full review of the different criteria for attribution (ethical, financial and administrative), the UCI has decided (art. 2.16.016) to register the following UCI ProTeams, for the 2022 season:

  • ALPECIN-FENIX (AFC – BEL)

  • B&B HOTELS P/B KTM (BBK – FRA)

  • BARDIANI CSF FAIZANE’ (BCF – ITA)

  • BINGOAL PAUWELS SAUCE WB (BWB – BEL)

  • BURGOS-BH (BBH – ESP)

  • CAJA RURAL-SEGUROS RGA (CJR – ESP)

  • DRONE HOPPER - ANDRONI GIOCATTOLI (DRA – ITA)

  • EOLO-KOMETA CYCLING TEAM (EOK – ITA)

  • EQUIPO KERN PHARMA (EKP – ESP)

  • EUSKALTEL – EUSKADI (EUS – ESP)

  • GAZPROM-RUSVELO (GAZ – RUS)

  • HUMAN POWERED HEALTH (HPM – USA)

  • SPORT VLAANDEREN – BALOISE (SVB – BEL)

  • TEAM ARKEA – SAMSIC (ARK – FRA)

  • TEAM NOVO NORDISK (TNN – USA)

  • TOTALENERGIES (TEN – FRA)

  • UNO-X PRO CYCLING TEAM (UXT – NOR).

The registration procedure for UCI Women’s WorldTeams, UCI WorldTeams and UCI ProTeams for the next season has now been completed. In total, 14 UCI Women’s WorldTeams, 18 UCI WorldTeams and 17 UCI ProTeams are registered for the 2022 season.

Obligatory invitations (art. 2.1.007bis)

As the two top-ranked UCI ProTeams featuring in the 2021 UCI World Ranking for teams, the following UCI ProTeams are invited to all UCI WorldTour events in 2022:

  • ALPECIN – FENIX (AFC – BEL)

  • TEAM ARKEA – SAMSIC (ARK – FRA).

As the third-ranked UCI ProTeam in the 2021 UCI World Ranking for teams, the following UCI ProTeam is invited to the UCI WorldTour one-day races in 2022:

  • TOTALENERGIES (TEN – FRA).

The list of UCI Women’s Continental Teams that will benefit from obligatory invitations to events in the UCI Women’s WorldTour in 2022 will be communicated in January, after the registration procedure for UCI Women’s Continental Teams.
