Launch of ticket sales for 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the organisers of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships are pleased to announce that general ticket sales for the event are now open.

Thirteen UCI World Championships will make up the inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships being held in Glasgow and across Scotland from 3 to 13 August. Cycling fans can now buy tickets to ensure they will be part of the action that will see more than 200 rainbow jerseys awarded throughout 11 days of non-stop competition.

From today, tickets for this first-of-its-kind cycling event can be purchased online, with the possibility of buying tickets for individual or multiple events. There are options for a wide range of budgets, with prices starting from eight pounds sterling.

Some of the UCI World Championships events will be free of charge and not require tickets: road, para-cycling road, Gran Fondo, trials, BMX Freestyle Flatland and mountain bike cross-country marathon (although there will be a fare for the shuttle bus).

To celebrate the opening of ticket sales, a kick-off event was held at the Glasgow BMX Centre, where Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Cabinet Secretary Angus Robertson and former BMX Racing UCI World Champion Shanaze Reade - the 2023 UCI Cycling World’s Ambassador for Children and Young People - met with local young cyclists.

UCI President David Lappartient said: “Fans attending the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships will be part of an important chapter of our sport’s history. We are less than six months away from a momentous 11 days of action and I would sincerely encourage people to get in quickly to be sure of witnessing some fantastic racing and competition. I look forward to seeing the whole cycling family united in Scotland for this unprecedented event.”

Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister, Scottish Government said: “Hosting the first ever UCI Cycling World Championships is an excellent opportunity to showcase Scotland to the world, promote cycling and the many benefits it can bring. Tickets going on general sale is one way for people to get involved. However, we want members of the public to not only enjoy watching the many different types of event on offer but be inspired by the power of the bike to give cycling a try for themselves - for exercise, sport, transport or even just for fun.”
