Following a highly successful edition of the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, the UCI is pleased to confirm that the principle of gender parity is maintained, meaning that each cycling discipline will offer an equal number of qualification places for each gender. Likewise, the total number of qualification places allocated for cycling remain the same as in 2024, with 514 places in total (257 per gender).

For the four Olympic road cycling events (road races and individual time trial for men and women), a total of 180 qualification places (90 places per gender) will be allocated. For the individual time trial, a maximum of 35 riders may take part for both men and women.

For the 12 Olympic track cycling competitions (keirin, omnium, individual sprint, team pursuit, team sprint and Madison for men and women), 190 qualification places will be available: 95 places for men and 95 for women.

A total of 72 mountain bike (cross-country Olympic) places will be awarded, comprising 36 for the men’s race and 36 for the women’s race.

For BMX Racing, the total quota of 48 places is made up of 24 men and 24 women.

For BMX Freestyle, the total quota is 24 places, 12 for each gender.

In total, 22 Olympic titles will be awarded across all cycling events on the programme at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
