The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that three athletes (one woman and two men) are standing as candidates for the role of indoor cycling representative on the UCI Athletes' Commission.
One woman (for artistic cycling) and one man (for cycle-ball) will be elected to the Commission. The candidates are:
Artistic cycling: Gracia Sotomayor (PER)
Cycle-ball: Yannick Fröhlich (SUI) and Patrick Schnetzer (AUT).
No election will be necessary for the artistic cycling representative. As Gracia Sotomayor was the only artistic cycling athlete to have submitted her candidacy by the deadline of 27 October and she meets the eligibility requirements, her appointment for the next term of the UCI Athletes' Commission is confirmed.
For cycle-ball, all athletes competing at the UCI Indoor Cycling World Championships, which will take place in Göppingen (Germany) from 7 to 9 November, will be able to vote for one of the candidates standing to represent the speciality on the UCI Athletes’ Commission. Voting will take place on site on 6 November from 9am to 6pm. The results of the election will be published on the UCI website on 7 November.
Gracia Sotomayor represents indoor cycling (artistic cycling) on the UCI Athletes’ Commission as of now.
The members of the UCI Athletes' Commission are elected for a four-year term. The mandate of members elected before the 2025 UCI Congress in Kigali (Rwanda), began on 25 September. The mandate of members elected after the UCI Congress begins on the date of their election. The mandates will end at the 2029 UCI Congress in Copenhagen (Denmark).
The renewal process for the UCI Athletes' Commission will be completed with the election of its President, which will take place on 12 November 2025 in Aigle, Switzerland.
