The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that six riders (three women and three men) are candidates for the role of cross-country representative, while three riders (one woman and two men) are candidates for the role of downhill representative, on the UCI Athletes' Commission. One woman and one man will be elected to the Commission for each of the two specialities. The candidates are:
Cross-country
Women:- Barbara Benko (HUN)- Mariske Strauss (RSA)- Rebecca McConnell (AUS).
Men:- Maxime Marotte (FRA)- Jens Schuermans (BEL)- Henrique Avancini (BRA).
Downhill
Women:- Myriam Nicole (FRA).
Men:- Greg Minnaar (RSA)- Neko Mulally (USA).
All athletes participating in the 2021 UCI Mountain bike World Championships in the Elite and Under 23 races from 25-29 August in Val di Sole (Italy), will be able to vote for one representative per gender in their respective specialty. The vote will be held onsite during official training sessions and at the start of the races.
The only female candidate for downhill representative, Myriam Nicole, will be elected unopposed.
The election results are aimed to be published on the UCI website on 31 August.
The members of the Commission will be elected for a term of four years, starting from the 2021 UCI Congress and running until the UCI Congress in 2025.
