Suspension of Juan José Cobo Acebo confirmed

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) confirms that no statement of appeal has been submitted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the UCI Anti-doping Tribunal concerning Juan José Cobo Acebo.As the deadline for appeal has expired, the three-year suspension against Juan José Cobo Acebo is hence confirmed.The UCI has proceeded with the disqualification of results obtained by the rider at the 2009 UCI Road World Championships (DNF in the road race; 42nd in the time trial), at the 2009 Vuelta a España (10th) and the 2011 Vuelta a España (winner).

The rider, now retired, was found guilty of a violation of the anti-doping rules (use of banned substance) based on irregularities found in his Athlete Biological Passport in 2009 and 2011.
