In the current context of the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) regrets to announce the 2020 UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup race scheduled in Castiglione Della Pescaia (Italy) from 27 to 30 May will not be able to be held on the planned dates.
The UCI fully supports the decision taken by the organisers and the competent authorities of the country. Given the current health situation in Italy and worldwide, holding this event would have potentially endangered the health of the riders, all those involved and the fans.
The UCI will work with the organising committee to set a new date according to the possibilities of the UCI International Calendar. In accordance with the decisions announced on 20 March concerning non-road disciplines related to coronavirus, the UCI underlines that the UCI World Championships and the UCI World Cups have priority in the revision of the UCI International Calendar in view of the resumption of the 2020 season.
The UCI shares the disappointment of the para-cycling community following this postponement and wishes to thank the city of Castiglione Della Pescaia for its cooperation in these difficult circumstances, as well as the athletes, teams, partners and all concerned for their understanding.
