The UCI approves the calendar for the 2022 Enduro World Series

Meeting on 2 and 3 June in the Olympic House, headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in Lausanne (Switzerland), and by videoconference, the UCI Management Committee yesterday approved the calendar for the 2022 Enduro World Series (EWS).

Comprising 11 rounds of mountain bike enduro, five rounds of E-mountain bike enduro and the hotly-contested Trophy of Nations, raced by nation teams, the 2022 EWS offers an expanded calendar with more competitions, venues and action. The 2022 EWS will begin in Maydena, Tasmania (Australia), on 26 and 27 March, while the final round, crowning the winners of the series, will take place in Loudenvielle (France) on 25 September. The first round of the E-mountain bike enduro will take place on 4 and 5 June in Tweed Valley (Great Britain) and the last in Finale Ligure (Italy). The E-mountain bike Enduro series was integrated into the EWS in 2020.One week after the round in Loudenvielle, the spectacular Trophy of Nations will crown the fastest nation teams of three. This competition will be raced in Finale Ligure.

Enduro racing requires athletes to use a combination of endurance, speed and technical skills. Each event comprises between four and six predominately downhill stages – known as special stages – and a series of liaison stages. On each special stage, riders start individually at regular intervals, with the general classification established by adding up all their recorded times.

To reach the start of each of the special stages, riders cover liaison stages either by bike or with mechanical assistance (chair lifts, trucks etc). Liaison stages are not timed. The Trophy of Nations is held along the same principles but raced by teams of three who must ride together. Each team’s result is calculated by combining the times of all three riders. The winners in each category – Men Elite, Women Elite, Men Under 21 and Women Under 21 – are awarded a special UCI jersey.  Calendar of the 2022 Enduro World Series
