The Management Committee of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) met on 2 and 3 February in Hoogerheide (Netherlands), on the sidelines of the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships, which are being held in the North Brabant town from 3 to 5 February.
At this meeting, the UCI Management Committee awarded the following UCI World Championships:
2023 UCI Pump Track World Championships The event will take place on 18 November in Neuquén, a town in the north of Argentinean Patagonia.
2024 and 2025 UCI Masters Mountain Bike World Championships Both events will be held in Cairns, on the Coral Sea coast of Queensland, Australia. The competitions will take place 16-19 May, 2024 and 15-18 May, 2025.
In addition, new dates have been set for the following UCI World Championships:
2023 UCI Gravel World Championships, organised in Venetia, Italy: 7-8 October
2024 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates): 10-14 December
2028 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Abu Dhabi: 25-29 October.
For the 2023 season, the UCI Management Committee also approved the following calendars:
2023 UCI Trials World Cup Calendar
2023 UCI Cycle-ball World Cup Calendar
2023 UCI Artistic Cycling World Cup Calendar.
These calendars will be available on the dedicated section of the UCI website from 7 February. The 2023-2024 UCI Cyclo-cross International Calendar and the 2023-2024 UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup Calendar will be published on 24 February.
Finally, changes have been made to the 2023 UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup Calendar which had already been approved by the UCI Management Committee. The host of the first round of the series is now known: Maniago, Italy. The full calendar for the UCI World Cup in the speciality is now as follows:
Round 1: 20-23 April in Maniago (Italy)
Round 2: 4-7 May in Ostend (Belgium)
Round 3: 26-29 May in Huntsville - Alabama (USA).
The qualification system for the 2023 UCI Road World Championships, which will be part of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, was approved and will be published on the UCI website at the beginning of March.
The Management Committee also adopted a resolution in line with the Olympic Movement’s position regarding the sanctions taken against Russia and Belarus (see the press release published on the UCI website).
The next UCI Management Committee meeting will be held from 2 to 5 May 2023 in Cagliari, Italy.
