The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) today publishes the list of teams that have met the sporting criteria set out in articles 2.15.011a and 2.15.011b of the UCI Regulations. The following teams are eligible for the award of a UCI WorldTour licence for the 2020-2022 period (in alphabetical order based on teams’ names in 2019):
In accordance with article 2.15.011 of the Regulations, it is the responsibility of the UCI Licence Commission to take a final decision in awarding these licences, taking into account all the necessary criteria (administrative, ethical, financial, organisational and sporting). As is customary, the UCI will announce the decisions taken by the Licence Commission in December. In line with the principles unanimously adopted in September 2018 in Innsbruck (Austria) defining the organisation of men’s professional road cycling, the UCI wishes to specify that at the end of the 2020-2022 period, and subject to compliance with other applicable criteria (administrative, ethical, financial, organisational) as assessed by the Licence Commission, only the top 18 teams applying for UCI WorldTeam status will be granted a licence for a new three-year period.
Furthermore, and by virtue of article 2.1.007bis of the UCI Regulations, the following UCI ProTeams have qualified for UCI WorldTour events for the 2020 season (subject to confirmation of the number of teams being granted UCI WorldTour licences):
These two teams are not obliged to take part in the aforementioned events. Should the teams decline to take up their places, the invitations will be returned to the organiser.
