The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announces that Italian rider Martti Sciortino has been sanctioned with an 18-month period of ineligibility following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation for the presence of Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone metabolite (DHCMT) as well as Stanozolol metabolites (Stanozolol)* in a sample collected during the BMX Swiss Challenge Cup on 24 May 2025.
In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code (Code) and the UCI Anti-Doping Rules (UCI ADR), the period of ineligibility started on 20 June 2025 and is effective until 19 December 2026.
The case has been resolved by way of an acceptance of consequences as provided for by the Code and the UCI ADR. The resolution is subject to appeal by the National Anti-Doping Organisation of Italy and the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The UCI will not comment any further.
The UCI delegated its anti-doping programme to the International Testing Agency (ITA) in January 2021, whilst retaining results management and the prosecution of anti-doping rules violations. Since then, cycling’s clean sport efforts have been led by the ITA Cycling Unit, which is dedicated specifically to all disciplines of cycling. The UCI and the ITA are bound by a service agreement which guarantees that the ITA operates in an independent manner.
* DHCMT and Stanozolol are Prohibited Substances listed under class S1.1 [Anabolic Androgenic Steroids] of the Prohibited List which is maintained by the World Anti-Doping Agency and adopted by the UCI.
