The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announces that the UCI Disciplinary Commission has decided to suspend Team Banco Guayaquil – Bianchi, a UCI Continental Team, for a period of 20 days, starting on 4 June 2024 and effective until 23 June 2024, in accordance with Article 11.3 of the UCI Anti-Doping Rules.
The UCI Anti-Doping Rules provide for the suspension of a team when two of its riders receive notice of an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for a non-specified substance in samples collected during the same 12-month period.
On 16 December 2023, the Ecuadorian rider Jorge Montenegro Revelo was notified by the National Anti-Doping Agency of Ecuador of an AAF for Erythropoietin (EPO) in a sample collected out of competition in Ecuador on 2 September 2023.
On 25 January 2024, the Ecuadorian rider Nixon Efrain Rosero Rojas was notified by the National Anti-Doping Agency of Guatemala of an AAF for Clostebol in a sample collected on 21 November 2023 during the Vuelta Ciclistica Internacional a Guatemala.
Since the results management process is still ongoing at the respective National Anti-Doping Agencies, the UCI will make no further comment on the cases.
