UCI statement concerning the cancellation of the Tour of Hainan

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) today confirms the cancellation of the Tour of Hainan (China), a UCI ProSeries stage race registered on the 2020 UCI International Road Calendar, which was scheduled to take place from 23 February to 1 March. Its cancellation is due to the health situation in China linked to the presence of the coronavirus.

The UCI has noted the cancellation of the event on theses dates and approved the request of the Chinese National Federation to postpone it to a later date in 2020 subject to availabilities on the calendar. The next road event scheduled in China is the Tour of Chongming Island UCI Women’s WorldTour (7-9 May).

The UCI is in regular contact with the Chinese authorities, which are keeping it informed of the evolution of the health situation and its impact on the organisation of cycling events in the country. It will take decisions necessary to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.
