UCI statement on Tour de Luxembourg

Many actions have been taken by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in order to improve the situation on Tour de Luxembourg. We have been in constant contact with representatives of the organisation, police, riders and teams. On Wednesday, UCI Commissaires’ Panel managed the sporting and security matters with the neutralisation of the second stage at the request of the riders – as per article 2.2.029bis of UCI Regulations – and the decision to only restart at the entry of the finishing circuit which had greater road closure measures in place. For today’s stage the course has been modified to avoid road works and organisers brought additional moto escorts, as well as increased police and stationary marshal presence along the course. We will continue to closely monitor the race as part of our commitment to reinforce our inspections at events and make safe conditions for the riders a priority. Races on the UCI International Calendar that are not compliant with the UCI Regulations for rider safety could face stage or race cancellation, as well as further disciplinary actions.
