UCI statement on UCI Professional Continental Team Burgos-BH

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) takes note of the decision rendered by the National Anti-Doping Organization of Spain (AEPSAD) to impose a four-year period of ineligibility on Mr. Ibai Salas for an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) arising from an Adverse Passport Finding.

This constitutes the second ADRV for a member of the UCI Professional Continental Team Burgos-BH within a twelve-month period.

On 13 December 2017, the National Anti-Doping Organization of Spain (AEPSAD) sanctioned the rider David Belda with a period of ineligibility of four years for an ADRV following Adverse Analytical Findings (AAF) of EPO in the samples he provided on 10 March 2017 and 22 March 2017 during out-of-competition controls.

These two cases within the same twelve-month period trigger the application of article 7.12.1 of the UCI Anti-Doping Rules providing for the suspension of the Team from 15 days to 45 days.

The UCI has referred the matter to the Disciplinary Commission which will render a decision in due course.

At this stage of the procedure, the UCI will not comment any further on this matter.
