The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has granted an exceptional derogation to article 2.6.027 of the UCI Regulations for the 13th stage of the Tour de France from Nîmes to Carcassonne. As a trial on this stage, the 3 kilometre rule will apply 4.5 kilometres from the finish due to the technical nature of the final into Carcassonne. This derogation means that riders will be credited with the times of the group they were riding in should they suffer a crash or mechanical in the final 4.5 kilometres of the stage.
