Verona to host the first two rounds of the 2021 UCI BMX World Cup

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that the first two rounds of the 2021 UCI BMX World Cup, which were scheduled to take place in Stuttgart (Germany) on 8 and 9 May before being cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will now take place, at the planned dates, in Verona (Italy).

A week beforehand, on 1-2 May, the Italian city will host the two opening rounds of the UEC BMX European Cup on the same track. These two competitions feature on the 2021 UCI BMX International Calendar: the first is a Class 1 event and the second Hors Class.

Given that the first two rounds of the 2021 UCI BMX World Cup count towards Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification, it was important for the UCI to find an alternative venue for these early-season events before the end of the qualification period (end of May).

The other rounds of the 2021 UCI BMX World Cup will take place in Bogota (Colombia) on 29 and 30 May, and in Sakarya (Turkey) on 23, 24, 30 and 31 October.

The UCI would like to thank the Italian organisers for their availability and rapidity, and looks forward to seeing the riders, National Federations, teams and all concerned parties in Verona for the opening of the 2021 UCI BMX World Cup.
