The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce a partnership with Wahoo Fitness. The cycling technology company is the new Official Supplier of the UCI Road World Championships, making its top-of-the-range products available for all participants for at least the next two editions.
Based in Atlanta, United States, Wahoo Fitness is a company specialising in technology for cyclists, such as home trainers (smart trainers in particular), heart rate monitors, bike computers and cycling training software.
Additionally, Wahoo will support the UCI’s Solidarity Programme, providing equipment to both the UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) – the UCI’s coaching and training centre in Aigle (Switzerland) – and its trainees the world over, as well as the Continental Centres, and National Federations, to support their development activities. The equipment put at their disposal will strengthen the range of tools available to athletes, allowing them to easily train indoors using power measurements and helping them to follow structured training programmes necessary for progressing to the top levels of competitive cycling.
Through this innovative partnership, Wahoo will also offer its training videos, based on footage from UCI events, to members of its community. These videos will be available on its integrated training platform, Wahoo SUF Training.
UCI President David Lappartient says: “The arrival of Wahoo Fitness among the UCI’s partners is terrific news. Wahoo stands out when it comes to innovation and therefore has a profile that is in line with our Federation’s ambition and drive to modernise cycling, making our sport even more appealing to the general public. The recognised quality of Wahoo products will be greatly appreciated by the participants of the UCI Road World Championships too, and their contribution to the Solidarity Programme will help foster budding champions and offer new development opportunities in new territories.”
The CEO of Wahoo Mike Saturnia says: “Wahoo has a strong record of helping elite athletes achieve standout performances in the UCI WorldTour and UCI Women’s WorldTour, and at the UCI World Championships. We are excited to bring this experience to our new partnership with the UCI. However, what makes this special is that Wahoo and the UCI share a common goal to enhance the performance of all cyclists and make cycling more accessible to riders at all levels throughout the world. This partnership strikes the right balance between elite performance and accessibility.”
